Opening a Furnish & Fettle in the York area had been our original plan when Glyn & I bought James Brindley in Wetherby back in 2016. However, in the meantime we had been given the opportunity to also acquire the Harrogate branch which seemed like too good an opportunity to miss.
Three years later and the time seemed right to start to look for the home for our third branch. We settled on Pocklington very quickly loving the friendly market town feel and the range of independent shops.
Without a lot of choice of vacant properties we were fortunate to find this bright airy space in such a prominent position.
Previously a general stores, we really were presented with a blank canvass to create our showroom.
We started by building in platform at the rear of space to create a seperate design studio area. This houses our extensive pattern library which features books and samples from all of the leading fabric and wallpaper design houses, and has large counter tops for the designers to layout schemes and samples.
To the front of the space we have created inspirational room settings to showcase the kind of work that we can do. We have used designer wallpapers, fabrics and bespoke upholstered furniture to create a smart lounge area, and a dining room set.
Both are styled with carefully curated occasional furniture and accessories to give the polished finished look. With all of the smaller items available to pick up and purchase our only concern is it that might be a challenge to keep it looking lovely!
Initially the showroom will be run by Kathryn Williamson who transfers from our Wetherby branch and Heather Hall who joins us with a wealth of experience of creating high end interiors throughout the UK. They will be supported by our installations manager Ian Beal and our project co-ordination team at our Wetherby head office.
Things aren’t normal at the moment, but we finally opened our doors on 15th June. To keep everyone safe we are limiting use of the design studio to by appoiontment only to ensure we can ahere to the social distancing & hygiene requirements – it also means you can be assured of our full attention!
We can’t wait to see you and help you get started on your project!
