A Refresh in Ripon

We have recently completed a project in Ripon which we are delighted to be able to share with you. We were initially approached by the client on the recommendation of a friend looking for a pair of dining room curtains. But that was just where the project started…

Dining Room

A beautiful room with an aspect on the garden these windows where the first challenge posed to our designer Helen MacKay based at our Harrogate showroom.

The client was keen to keep the existing dining furniture which consisted on of a large polished wood table and velvet chairs in silver and black. Helen suggested a fabulous grape velvet fabric from Manuel Canovas which the client fell in love with, and also suggested painting the walls in French Grey from Little Greene.

Delighted with the results Helen was then asked to move onto looking at the kitchen.

The contemporary style kitchen in cream with granite worksurfaces also in neutral colour presented a blank canvas, however leading on directly from the dining room through an open arch way it was important that the decor of the kitchen tied in with that in the dining room.

Wanting a more informal look for the kitchen a fabric from Larsen which was a rustic looking cloth embroidered with cotton yarns. The roman blind was trimmed in a bobble fringe.

The clients own chair in a neutral colour was dressed with a cushion to match with the curtains and we dressed the area with tall copper lanterns. With one side of the house looking super smart it was time to move onto the lounge.

We made a bespoke sofa using a J.Brown velvet and two smart chairs using a patterned velvet by Zoffany. The curtains are in a fabric from Chase Erwin which is a metallic embroidered geometric silk type cloth – absolutely stunning, but not shown well in this photography.

The walls were painted in a shade called Mirage II from the Little Greene Paint Company.

Lounge Cushions

Cushions are always really important for pulling a scheme together. For this scheme we used beautiful pleated satin cushions using a Kravet fabric and added textural tones with fabrics from Zinc for the other cushions.
